Mandate of the North Bay Nordic Ski Club The North Bay Nordic Ski Club is a registered non-profit organization whose purposes are: (a) to develop and maintain a cross country ski facility for the use and enjoyment of the club membership and the general public; (b) to promote the growth and development of recreational cross country skiing and cross country ski racing in the North Bay area; (c) to develop ski programs in co-operation with the Northern Ontario Division of Cross Country Ontario and Cross Country Canada The club has a board of directors whose primary duty is to uphold and promote the mandate of the club. The board strives to build a better facility and a stronger club for all of the club members. Overview: The North Bay Nordic Ski Club is a member of Cross Country Ontario (CCO) and Cross Country Canada (CCC). They are the sports governing bodies for the sport of Nordic skiing. CCC and CCO deal with high performance athlete training and development of National team skiers for World Cup and Olympic competition. They set up programs for the training of officials, coaches, and for the development of young skiers through Jackrabbit, Challenge, and Development Team programs, which lead to competitive skiing for junior age skiers (13-20) and seniors. One of our club’s founding members was Dave Rees, who skied for the national team at the Grenoble Olympics, 1968, and who laid out the initial plans for our trail system in the late 1970s. Presently, David Nighbor is in his second year of senior skiing and is on the 2010 National Team for the Vancouver/Whistler winter games. With that being said, only about 3% of our club members actively engage in competitive skiing. The other 97% are recreational skiers who ski because they love to ski in a beautiful winter environment. Club By-Laws Available Here Letters Patent Incorporating North Bay Nordic Ski Club
